Getting the extra space on Dropbox

Want to get the free space on your Dropbox account?

Have VMWare or VitualBox installed with an operating system (Linux, WinXP, Win7, whatever),
Download and install Dropbox on the VM OS to the point it prompts for a login, password, and computer name.

Open your browser to your Dropbox account referral page on your host computer, not the VM.

 Copy your http:// referral link.

In the VM browser paste the referral link and make sure your on this page and Dropbox the install program is waiting.

Now its time to snapshot the VM.  This way every time you restart its a fresh start.

Now make up a fake name first and last.  Make up a fake email address and a real password (not necessary to actually create the email address as a real service, it doesn’t care). Remember the password and copy the email address.  You want to make the email address somewhat wild because the email address might already have a Dropbox account.  Select create account.

Now in the Dropbox install program enter the fake information from above.  Make sure you change the Computer Name every time or the Dropbox system will make the login ineligible.  Select Next and your account should increase in size by 500MB.

Once you’ve seen the increase on you host computer you can restore the VM.

Start the process again with a different name and email.  The password can remain the same.  Make sure you change the computer name every time to something new.

enjoy the space…
